About

St Mary’s Football Club was formed in 1996 by a group of parents in the greater Glengormley area who wished to provide football activity and participation for the younger boys and girls of the Parish of St Mary’s on the Hill.

St Mary’s initially entered a couple of teams in the Down & Connor Football League but from there the numbers quickly grew. The catchment area spread throughout not only Newtownabbey but also North Belfast and from all areas of the community. We currently have over 160 boys and girls who are members of the Club.

To help promote a more cross community involvement for the young players the Club entered the South Belfast Youth Football League in 2004 and now has teams competing from Under 10 age level to Under 17 from September through to June. In addition to the League our teams compete in the NIBFA Cup where we have competed with team’s right across Northern Ireland. Over the years Club teams have also taken part in numerous local cross community invitational football tournaments (i.e. Loughside, Rathcoole…etc.) whilst further away we have competed in international football events (i.e. Scotland Cup held annually in Ayr). These competitions provide excellent opportunities for the children to take part in high quality football tournaments where they have established new friendships.
